Epidemics may spread fast and since we are constantly improving our transportation possibilities, virus and bacteria are taking advantage of that. For centuries, harbours have been critical junctions through which diseases moved and diffused, and this led to the construction of specific buildings to isolate those who were sick or suspected of being infected. Nowadays we also have airports and much more persons moving all around the world, increasing the potential spread of infectious agents. Learning from past experience, both remote and recent, is thus a key point for us to increase our preparedness to old and new diseases.

From February 25^th to May 25^th, Venice is hosting The Travelling Disease, an exhibit that shows the long and parallel history of our species and the diseases that plague them. An opportunity to raise our awareness on the current global health emergencies.

The exhibit is organized by Scuola Grande San Marco and is supported by several institutions, including the American Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
